Be You and Only You

When Brian isn’t blogging about social media and marketing, he’s writing about positivity, motivation, and being a better you. I’m going to continue with the latter in this post, because it’s my absolute favorite topic to talk about.

“You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.” Friedrich Nietzche (19th centery German philosopher)

Are you spending this short existence following in someone else’s footsteps? Are you just a shadow of a role model, because you assume they are doing “it” right? Did you know that there are other ways to think, feel, act, and live your life?

Think of how you spend all your time. Are you working at a job you don’t like just because that’s what everyone else is doing? Do you have the same goals as your friends and colleagues just because copying them is much easier than creating your own? Are you, in fact, living as a combination of everyone around you instead of being who you really are?

You might be saying to yourself, “No, that’s not me. This girl is nuts. I know I’m living the life I want.” If that’s true, then you’re one of the lucky ones. If you’re lying to yourself, there’s a way to be much happier.

Think of who you are. Think of what actually makes you excited and happy, and what makes you down right miserable. Think of your personal passions. Think about what you absolutely love. Are you living your life according to these answers? Are you doing more of what makes you content than what makes you unhappy? Or have you really just been skating by and taking the easy roads your whole life?

If you want to be successful and content in life (in any aspect of it), I hope you find what you want, and follow those dreams. Make sure your aspirations and goals are your aspirations and goals, and not just a copy of someone else’s, or you will never know what your life could have been.
